Three Programs building the Restoration Economy

The Restoration Economy is a simple idea: healing the land is how wealth is made and climate action is strengthened.

THE SYSTEM BEHIND IT

Three Programs building the Restoration Economy

Our programs are three intertwined parts of that single model. Nature-based livelihoods restore the land and the household economy. Holistic Child Development shapes the next generation of stewards.

The Earth School builds the local leadership and drives the change that keeps the whole system running. Each one strengthens the others. Together, they set the Restoration Economy in motion.

INTERVENTIONS IN THE RESTORATION ECONOMY

Programs Making an Impact

Program 01 · Nature-based Livelihoods

Turning barren land into
perennial income

Local tribal wisdom envisions it, science anchors it, technology catalyses it. We layer short, medium and long-term income streams — so restoration pays from the first season, and resilience compounds with every year.

What we do

We transition degraded land to agroforestry: bamboo, fruit, and native species, intercropping, and climate-resilient agriculture. We converge households with state welfare schemes, ensuring 100% documentation so communities can access what they are already entitled to. We restore soil carbon, manage watersheds, and enable tribal communities to earn a perennial income -  from convergence and the bountiful harvest from the restored land.

How it sustains

As communities gain more knowledge and income from multi-layered, climate-resilient livelihood streams, they become self-reliant — with income lasting up to 50 years and catalysing generational change.

Program 02 · Holistic Child Development

Teaching the alphabet,
and the soil

Our holistic child development engine nurtures the child in literacy, numeracy, and ecological wisdom together — rooting learning in Kanha's own landscape. Children grow up as its confident stewards, set to drive the Restoration Economy forward.

What we do

Through Anand Ghars and Masti Ki Paathshala centres, we deliver contextual early-years and primary education. The curriculum teaches biodiversity, soil, seasons, Gond art, culture and tradition, moral & civic sense, and critical thinking, — This together comprises  the ‘alphabet of the earth’.

How it sustains

Mata Samitis (mothers’ committees) anchor the centres in the community. Shiksha Preraks — local educators trained through our Earth School pathway — run the classrooms, so the capability stays in the tribal communities.

Program 03  ·  The Earth School

Building leaders from within the community

Our leadership engine trains tribal youth and adults to become change agents who run the other two engines — so the Restoration Economy belongs to the community, not to us.

What we do

Earth School builds local expertise and leadership. Through mentoring, modular learning and a defined career ladder, village youth grow into the educators, trainers and practitioners who run development programmes and become the drivers of the restoration economy. The training and curriculums are designed for the communities, informed by experts and rooted in science and indigenous wisdom.

How it sustains

Every trained cadre member is a permanent asset that stays in the landscape. As the cadre grows, Earth Focus steps back. Alumni are already beginning to take seats in local governance and development.
